Rob Schouten Gallery, Langley —
Whidbey Island is home to many remarkable glass artists. One of these is Steph Mader, whose luminous fused glass landscapes catch the eye of almost every visitor to the gallery. Each piece is created layer by layer from tiny particles of powdered glass, fused after each layer to give a three dimensional effect. Starting with the distant hills and faraway clouds, then the planes of the middle ground, followed by the details in the foreground, Mader carefully constructs her images to catch the light and bring out the brilliant colors of the glass. The Opening Reception is in conjunction with Langley’s First Saturday Art Walk. Steph Mader and many of our gallery artists will be in attendance, and light refreshments will be served.
