ISF: Sense & Sensibility

July 28, 2018 @ 6:00 pm

Island Shakespeare Festival, 5476 Maxwelton Rd, Langley  —

Based on the classic novel by Jane Austen, Kate Hamill’s adaptation finds fresh humor and vitality in the sometimes stuffy world of the British bourgeoisie. Gender politics, romance, family bonds, and cultural competition have made this story a lasting favorite. Hamill’s ability to convey the lighthearted humanity in Austen’s farcical characters will surprise and thrill. Beneath the hilarity of circumstance live relatable, beautiful characters we are bound to fall in love with.

Our 2018 Summer Season will open with Sense & Sensibility, adapted by Kate Hamill, and directed by Charlie McGrath. Charlie is thrilled to make her Seattle debut with the artistic family at ISF. She is currently an Assistant Director at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in DC.

ISF performances are “Pay what you Will” to attend! We “pass the hat” after performances and encourage donations. We do not sell tickets. This means that seating is festival-style, and we do sometimes fill to capacity before the play begins.

You are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy before and during the show. We also have concessions that can be purchased on site. We are required by state law to prohibit patrons from bringing their own alcoholic beverages for consumption before, during, or after our performances. This policy is strictly enforced. Wine and beer are available for purchase in our lobby.

Visitors are encouraged to bring layers and blankets – as the summer days get shorter, it can get chilly when the sun starts to set. You’re also welcome to bring a seat cushion! You do not need to bring your own chair.
